The 10th Grzegorz Fitelberg International Competition for Conductors

The Henryk Mikołaj Górecki Silesian Philharmonic and the Silesia Adventure Sport association have the pleasure to invite both music-lovers and fun-seekers to take part in an urban game combining the contexts of music, culture and entertainment.

The Plot

An eminent Polish conductor, who has resided abroad for many years and led orchestras in many music centres worldwide, arrives in Katowice to serve on the jury of the 10th Grzegorz Fitelberg International Competition for Conductors. He comes back to his homeland, to Katowice, after many years of absence. He decides to use this opportunity (the Competition will take more than a week) to spend more time in his home city. His nephew puts him up at his place. A day before the competition starts, the Maestro tells his hosts that he is going out to town to see to a certain very important business, but will be back for the festive dinner. He is missing at dinner time, however, and his phone does not answer. The Competition is soon about to start – time passes quickly…

Seriously worried, the family asks: “Where is the Maestro?” – and sets out in search of him.

The Strategy

The participants will play the members of the missing juror’s family. Their task is to find the Maestro. Search will lead them to 10 checkpoints, and at each of them they will have a task to perform, worth a specified number of points. The game ends after all the scores have been added up, at the last checkpoint. It is here that the three victorious teams will be announced. (Non-cash) awards will be presented to the first three persons or groups that will collect the greatest number of points. Additionally, all the participants will take part in a prize draw.
